Alaska Outdoor Breakthrough Performances: Week of May 4

Here are the top performances from Alaska high school track and field athletes during the week of May 4.

Julian Kiefer (Kodiak) ran 9:57.95 in the 3200 meters at the Anchorage Invite on May 8, improving from his previous best of 10:32.14. The sophomore finished 5th of 37 competitors and ranks #5 in Alaska and #2 among sophomores.

Cora Neroda (Service) clocked 12:42.93 in the 3200 meters at the Anchorage Invite, lowering her mark from 13:09.99 set in April. The freshman placed 14th of 33 competitors and sits #20 statewide and #6 among freshmen. Neroda also set a PR in the 1600 meters, running 5:55.85 to improve from 5:58.20.
