Check out some of the top performances from Alaskan high school athletes this past week.
Girls
Sophomore Bella Connally of Juneau-Douglas High School took the 100m and 200m titles at the Capital City Invitational. Connally ran 12.52 in the 100m in a new season's best. She later ran a 200m prelim of 26.27, before taking the victory in the final with a 27.01. Connally ranks #2 in the 100m and #4 in the 200m for Alaska.
Over the hurdles, Natalie Hall of Sitka High School sits in the top 25 in both events. At the Capital City Invitational, the senior ran 49.59 to take first in the 300m hurdles and improved her win streak to 7 races in a row. Hall returned to the track, taking bronze in the 100m hurdles with a new personal best of 18.21. She currently sits at #7 in the long hurdles and #22 in the short hurdles.
Kaia Mangaccat took three wins in the distance events at the Capital City Invitational. The junior from Juneau-Douglas High School ran 11:50.20 in the 3200m, 2:28.89 in the 800m, and closed the meet with a 5:15.15 1600m, all with personal bests. Mangaccat is currently undefeated this season among the three events and ranks #19 in the 800m, #3 in the 1600m, and #11 in the 3200m.
In the throws at the Capital City Invitational, Petersburg High School's Emilia Anderson took 1st and 2nd in the shot put and discus. The sophomore set lifetime best marks with a 19-6.5 throw in the shot, followed by an 82-9.5 throw in the discus.
Rounding out our standout athletes is Addie Hartman of Juneau-Douglas High School. The sophomore took second in the 100m hurdles at the Capital City Invitational with an 18.00 PB in the prelims, followed by an 18.01 in the final. Hartman currently ranks #19 in the state over the short hurdles.
