Junea-Douglas freshmen Sadie Tuckwood simply ran away from the field at the Petersburg Invitational on Saturday winning by over a minute and a half with a state leading winning time of 18:27. Could Tuckwood be the next great runner in Alaska and go for 4 straight 4A state titles in cross country?
Meanwhile, Glenallen's Briahna Gerlach has recovered from a poor showing at the Tsalteshi Invitational a few weeks ago to win the Palmer Invitational this past weekend with a seasonb est time of 18:50. She looks back on track to go for her fourth straight 1A-3A state cross country title in a few more weeks at Bartlett High School.
Another rising freshmen star is found at West Valley High School in Kendall Kramer, who won the 4A varsity race at the Palmer Invite only a couple seconds off Gerlach's time in the 1A-3A varsity race with a time of 18:56.
