Women's Cross Country Ranked 10th In West Region

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks women's cross country team was ranked 10th by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in the second regional rankings for the NCAA Division II 2011 season released this week.

The Nanooks fell three spots, after last weekend's races in Spokane, where they finished 13th among 26 Division I and II teams and fourth among their Great Northwest Athletic Conference foes. Alaska is one of five GNAC teams represented in the West Region rankings, behind Alaska Anchorage (2nd), Western Washington (3rd), Seattle Pacific (7th) and Northwest Nazarene (9th).

The Blue and Gold debuted at No. 7 in the West Region last week in the first rankings of the year. The complete regional rankings may be found here.

Next up for the Nanooks is a trip to the Hawaiian Islands, where they will race against the Hawaii-Hilo Vulcans next Saturday, Oct. 8 at 12 p.m. AKDT.
