Women's Cross Country Team Ranked 4th In Regional Poll

FAIRBANKS, AK - The Alaska Nanooks women's cross country team garnered regional attention Tuesday after a strong showing against two of its Great Northwest Athletic Conference foes early this month. The Alaska women debuted at fourth in the West Region rankings poll released today by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

It marks the first time in program history that the Nanooks have been ranked regionally.

The Blue and Gold ran away with a pair of three-way dual-meet victories on Sept. 2 and 4, when they hosted this week's fifth-ranked Northwest Nazarene and sixth-ranked Seattle Pacific.

After a two-week break, both the men's and women's teams return to action this Saturday morning at the Chaminade Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii.
