SPOKANE, WA - The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced that sophomore Raphaela Sieber (Voehrenbach, Germany) is the league's Female Cross Country Athlete of the Week after landing first and second-place finishes at the Alaska Nanooks Cross Country Invitational over the weekend to lead the Alaska women to a pair of meet victories.
She finished second in Thursday's 6K race in a time of 22:56.2 and won Saturday's 4,000-meter event in a time of 15:19.9. The Blue and Gold had first-place team scores of 27 and 32, winning handily by margins of 15 and 14, respectively, against GNAC foes Northwest Nazarene and Seattle Pacific.
Alaska Anchorage's Marko Chesto was named Sieber's counterpart as the GNAC Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
The Nanooks host the Ester Dome 5k Run fundraiser this Saturday before returning to collegiate action on September 25 at the Chaminade Invite in Honolulu, Hawaii.
