FAIRBANKS, AK – The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Athletics will host the 26th Annual IBEW Nanook Fund Golf Scramble on June 11 at the North Star Golf Club.

IBEW is in its seventh year as the title sponsor for the tournament, which is the major fund-raising event for student-athlete scholarships. Proceeds from the tournament will directly benefit the Alaska Nanooks.

On the day of the tournament, breakfast and registration begins at 7 a.m., followed by a captain's meeting at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. Each golfer will receive a catered lunch, and on-course beverage carts and hospitality tents will be available throughout the tournament.

All participants will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for an Arctic Circle Fly/Drive Adventure for Two, courtesy of Northern Alaska Tour Company.  The trip includes an aerial tour of the Brooks Mountain Range, road travel along the famed Dalton Highway, crossing over the Arctic Circle (Arctic Circle certificate included) and exploration of the Yukon River.

Every entrant will receive a tournament gift, goodie bag and an opportunity to win team prizes. Other prizes will be awarded for specialty holes throughout the course, such as closest to the pin and longest drive contests for men and women.

The tournament's hole-in-one prizes include a Hawaiian vacation package for two, $10,000 in cash, a chance to win a new vehicle (sponsorship courtesy Kendall Auto of Fairbanks), a Nike driver or irons and a Bose Wave Music system.

This year, tournament organizers have reduced entry costs for teams and individuals to provide greater value for golfers. Teams of four can register to participate in the tournament for $450 or individuals can sign up for $125. Individuals and partial teams will be paired by the tournament staff to create complete teams of four.

Nanook supporters and area businesses are greatly encouraged to sponsor the event. Hole sponsorships are available for $100 per hole.
