Noah Malone Named Paralympic High School Athlete Of The Year


The United States Paralympics recognized Hamilton Southeastern (IN) High School junior Noah Malone as its High School Male Track And Field Athlete of the Year on November 29 following a selection of Track and Field All-Americans by the the organization, which is division of the United States Olympic Committee. 

The U.S. Paralympics awarded 75 athletes with All-American honors in total, the largest group since the awards were created in 2010. 

The honors are bestowed upon the top high school track and field athletes with Paralympic-eligible impairment and were based on performances across the 2018 season.

Malone, who competes for the Indiana Storm over the AAU season, finished his sophomore season with Hamilton Southeastern High School with remarkable finishes for the T12 classification, running wind-legal PRs of 10.70 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.69 seconds in the 200m. He also contributed to a fourth-place finish for the Indiana Storm in the 4x100 at the AAU Junior Olympics. 

His best of 10.70 seconds would have earned him a gold medal at the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016. 

He logged four wind-legal 100m marks under 10.8 and was fourth at Indiana's State Track And Field Championships in June. He posted six marks under 22 seconds in the 200m and was fourth overall at the distance at states as well. 

Malone also began his season with a PR of 6.96 seconds indoors in the 60m. 

This is his second All-American honor from the U.S. Paralympics.
