The FHSAA 1A boys classification graduated the top three places from the 2017 race. Trevor Foley out of Citrus Park Christian School, Ryan Szklany out of Highlands Christian, and Sean Snyder out of St. Joseph Academy all played a major role in the classification.

With last year's top three graduated, this leaves Gabriel Curtis, the former 2016 1A cross country state champion, as your top contender in the preseason rankings. Curtis, out of Mount Dora Christian Academy, placed fourth last year clocking a time of 16:22. Coming back for his senior year, Curtis is joined by teammates Jackson Pruim and Mitchell Curtis, to put Mount Dora Christian at the top in our preseason rankings.

Junious Brown IV, out of Maclay, joins Curtis on the list of key returners. Brown finished 7th at the 2017 state championship and in his first recorded track season, he ran 4:34 for the 1600m and 1:59 for the 800m -- steadily improving week by week.

Look out for Palmer Trinity School's George Stark. This past track season Stark improved his 3200m time from 11:22 to 9:47, as an eighth grader. Coming back for his freshman year, Stark and teammate Reilly May will work together to put Palmer Trinity as one of the schools to look for this season.

There is consistency in performances amongst this group which will make for an exciting season to follow.
