Tamari Davis Breaks Two National Records On Final Day Of Dunamis Super Meet

Just a day after setting the 200m national freshman class record, Tamari Davis of Gainesville High School broke her own freshman class national record in the 200m. Davis ran 23.42 in the 200m finals on Saturday at the Dunamis Super Meet in Atlanta.

On Friday, Davis ran 23.54, beating the previous record by .01 seconds. The old record of 23.55 was held by Ashton Purvis from St. Elizabeth High School in Oakland, California. Now Davis lowered the freshman class record even more with her new US No. 1 performance.

Daivs also set the 60m freshman class national record in the 60m dash by running 7.30 in the prelims. That time is not only a new freshman national class record but also tied for US No. 1 this year with Denver Lightning's Arria Minor

Davis' 60m dash time breaks Girard College High School's Thelma Davies' old 60m dash record of 7.37 by .07.

Davis ran the fastest time in the prelims but chose not to run the 60m dash finals. Semira Killebrew of Brebeuf Jesuit Prep School ended up winning the finals running 7.45. Killebrew's time ties her current US No. 2 time of 7.45 from the Vanderbilt HS Indoor Invitational.
