Raising An Olympian: Sanya Richards-Ross And Sharon Richards On Parenting

Heading into motherhood for the first time, Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross looks back on her time as one of the best sprinters in USA history and explains how her family prepared her for future success.

Alongside her mother, Sharon Richards, the 32-year-old expectant mother recounts the highlights of her career and discusses how family played a key role in shaping her into the athlete she became.

They always told her, "whatever you want, we're here to support you 100-percent," Richards-Ross said.

Richards, a former athlete who raised Sanya and her siblings in Kingston, Jamaica, before emigrating to the United States, said of parenting, "I believe that if kids have your 100 percent support, they will be their best selves."

Richards-Ross won gold in the 400m at the 2012 London Olympics and also earned three straight golds in the 4x400m relay in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Games. She's also a seven-time medalist at the World Championships.
